How to Donate

Please join us in our important work. As we are an organization of volunteers, every dollar we receive goes directly and in full to our mission on the ground in Ghana rather than staffing salaries and overhead.

Moringa Community is a practical and realistic goal-oriented initiative to improve the lives of impoverished people in West Africa. Our goal is not to give charity but to educate and empower Ghanaians according to the philosophy of "Give a man a fish and feed him for only one day. Teach a man to fish and feed him for a life time."

With your financial support, we will:

  • Buy cement, metal roofing, wire nails, bolts and screws, and tools for the construction of our much needed staff dormitory and latrine building.
  • Purchase supplies for our home canning and food preservation initiative.
  • Purchase woodworking supplies.
  • Supply computers and appropriate software for our Moringa Trade School office in Ghana.
  • Develop infrastructure, satellite dish, and technology to connect our African school to the Internet.
  • Pay small salaries ($75/month) to our Ghanaian teaching staff at the Moringa Community Center in Bremen Baako

Additional non-monetary things we need help with.

  • A dedicated volunteer who will aid us in researching grant opportunities.
  • A creative and technically capable volunteer to be Moringa's Webmaster
  • Introduction to Schools, Churches, & other organizations that can provide fund raising support.
  • Affordable methods of shipping goods and materials between the US and Ghana
  • Organization of group or community garden seed collection drives. Specifically Tomato, Beans of all types, Peas, Carrots, Cabbage, Onions, and Corn.
  • Journalists willing to write about our important efforts

Your tax deductible donation of $25, $50, $100, $200 (or more if you are able) will allow our efforts to become sustainable. Since we are a grass roots organization, we make every dollar count. In our first year, with $18,340 of donations as of January 2009, we have already trained Abu, our director in Ghana, in practical and affordable woodworking and food preservation technologies, secured the support of Chief Nana Kweku of the village of Baako, and begun constructing the Moringa Community Center. Just imagine how much more we can do with an even larger budget in the future!
